Visit TJ

There’s more than one way to get to know us.

Come See What TJ Feels Like

The best way to understand TJ is to spend some time with us.

You can join us for a full Shadow Day, visit campus with your family, or start from home with a virtual tour and a conversation with Admissions. However you begin, we want you to get a real sense of the school: the size of the classes, the pace of the day, the people you would know, and what it feels like to be part of this community.

If you are traveling to St. Louis, we can help you make the most of the trip. If St. Louis is still a long way away, a virtual visit is a great place to begin. International and out-of-state families often start there before planning a campus visit.

Spend a Day at TJ

A Shadow Day is the best way to experience what an ordinary day at TJ is really like.

We’ll pair you with a student host and build a schedule around your grade level and interests. You’ll join 35-minute classes, meet students and teachers, have lunch on campus, and take part in the daily routines of the school, including cookie break.

We’ll plan the day around you. Your host and schedule can reflect your grade level and interests, so you get a better sense of what your own TJ day might actually look like.

Visit TJ from Wherever You Are

You do not need to be in St. Louis to begin getting to know TJ.

Our virtual tour takes you through classrooms, residence halls, gathering spaces, and the rest of our 20-acre campus. It is a useful first look at the scale of TJ and the places where students spend their days.

We also encourage families to meet with Admissions by Zoom. We can learn more about what you are looking for in a school, answer questions about academics and student life, and talk through the admissions process. For families considering boarding, we can also discuss residential life and what it is like to make TJ your home away from home.

Make a Trip of It

A visit to TJ is also a chance to get to know the city our students call home.

TJ is located on a 20-acre campus in a quiet residential area of St. Louis County, with the resources of a major city close by. Museums, universities, parks, performances, professional sports, and some of the region’s best-known cultural institutions are all within easy reach of campus.

The city is part of the TJ experience. Students visit Washington University and Saint Louis University, study at the Saint Louis Art Museum, attend performances and sporting events, and explore places such as the Missouri Botanical Garden and Forest Park.

If you have time before or after your campus visit, there is plenty worth exploring as a family. Many of St. Louis’s best-known museums and attractions are free, making it easy to add another stop to your day or spend a weekend getting to know the area.
